Celebrate the Fall Harvest and the Season of the Witch at the WHIPPANY RAILWAY MUSEUM on October 5 from 12:30 to 5:30 PM, Rain or Shine.

Autumn is a Season of Family Fun, and the Pumpkin, the reassuring signal of seasonal passage, never fails to bring forth the image of cool nights, bright harvest moons, crackling fires, and the warmth of family and friends. And when pumpkins appear, they take on a playful appearance, alerting everyone that the special magic of HALLOWEEN, with its goblins, ghouls and witches lies just around the corner.
On October 5th, you can enjoy an afternoon amid the Color and Spirit of Fall in the Whippanong Valley.

Walk among the Pumpkins, Corn Shocks and Grinning Scarecrows as you enjoy the wares of local CRAFTS MERCHANTS and RAILROAD MEMORABILIA dealers at our popular PUMPKIN MARKETPLACE CRAFTS FAIR!

Meet VAMPIRA, "The Queen of Halloween" as she helps the Museum "ring in" the Halloween Season. VAMPIRA will greet visitors and pass out candy treats to all the children. Be sure to bring your camera!

Take a trip onboard the "Pumpkinliner," and relax as our Historic Diesel-powered train winds its way along The Whippanong Trail. Our Special Train will include a unique collection of ANTIQUE CABOOSES passengers can ride in.

This portion of the Morristown & Erie Railway was one of the pathways used by the Lenape Indians centuries ago. A gentle and sharing people, the Lenapes welcomed European settlers and taught them the importance of planting, harvesting and respect of nature.

NO ADVANCE MAIL ORDER TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT. All train ride tickets will be sold throughout the day on a first-come, first-served basis at the Museum on October 5th.

SPECIAL NOTE: If you are a vendor of Autumn and Halloween crafts or Harvest Pumpkins, Corn, Gourds and the like, or a dealer of Railroad Memorabilia... we'd like you to participate! This is an OUTDOOR event... $25.00 allows you a 10'x10' working space under the shade trees of the Great Lawn of the Whippany Station. This picturesque site provides a beautiful and inviting location for a Fall Crafts Show. (NOTE: NO VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE LAWN). This event will be held RAIN or SHINE. Vendors will be admitted at 9 AM and permitted to erect SMALL, individual tents/cabanas to protect themselves and their wares from sun or inclement weather. Vendors are responsible for bringing and setting up their own tables and chairs. For further information and details, or to reserve your space, contact the Whippany Railway Museum at P.O. Box 16, Whippany, NJ 07981-0016 or by phone at (973) 887-8177. Alternately, you may view and print the application form by clicking here.

On October 5th, the Museum will be open from 12 Noon to 6 PM. A suggested donation (separate from the train ride fare) of $1.00 per Adult, and 50 cents per child is requested for the continual maintenance and restoration of our Museum building, grounds, and exhibit collection.

A Gift Shop is located within the Museum building. Food service is also available adjacent to the Whippany Station.

PUMPKIN FESTIVAL is staffed by Whippany Railway Museum volunteers. Proceeds from this event go right back into our restoration projects. We appreciate your continued support of our Historic Preservation efforts.
